Where we recover data
There is one Datraction lab, and it is in south-west London. Everywhere else on this list is a courier city: your device travels to the same dedicated cleanroom environment, is worked on by the same engineers, and is never opened before it arrives.

- London Lab and drop-off London is the only city where Datraction has a physical cleanroom, so every drive that arrives here, from a clicking laptop disk to a failed RAID member, is opened and worked on in the same building rather than forwarded elsewhere.
- Manchester Courier collection Whether it's an office laptop from Spinningfields or a research drive from the university district, Manchester's data reaches our lab by courier rather than a local branch, and nothing is opened until it arrives in London.
- Birmingham Courier collection A drive with a cracked case or a bent connector shouldn't be plugged in to check if it still works — a short in exposed electronics is often what turns a recoverable knock into an unrecoverable one, and that's worth knowing before you test it yourself.
- Leeds Courier collection Leeds has a large financial and legal sector, so a work laptop here is more likely than most to arrive locked with full-disk encryption — and we need the key or password to get past that, not just the drive.
- Liverpool Courier collection A NAS or RAID array needs different handling before collection than a single laptop drive, and Liverpool's port and logistics sector is exactly the kind of place where that distinction matters.
- Bristol Courier collection A workstation or desktop drive needs to be removed from its case before a courier collects it, unlike a laptop that can travel as it is — worth knowing in a city like Bristol, where engineering and technology firms run a lot of desktop hardware.
- Glasgow Courier collection Glasgow sits further from our lab than any other city we collect from, and rather than pretend that doesn't matter, we build it into the schedule so the standard 5–10 working day turnaround still starts from a realistic arrival date.
- Sheffield Courier collection Sheffield's manufacturing sector tends to keep hardware running for years longer than most, and an old mechanical drive usually needs a cleanroom and a head swap, not recovery software, however it failed.
- Edinburgh Courier collection An SSD that won't mount shouldn't be power-cycled repeatedly while you decide what to do, because it can quietly erase blocks already marked deleted — worth knowing in a city like Edinburgh, where SSD-based work laptops are common in the finance and legal sector.
Recovery priority
How fast do you need your data back?
The engineering process and level of care stay the same. A faster service moves your case forward in the lab queue.
Turnaround starts when the device reaches our laboratory.
- 01
Standard
5–10 working days
Targets recovery and return within 5–10 working days of the device reaching our lab, subject to diagnosis, parts and media condition.
Recovery price Included - 02
Express
3–5 working days
Prioritises the case and targets 3–5 working days from arrival, subject to diagnosis, parts, media condition and data volume.
Priority surcharge +40% - 03
Emergency
24 hours
Gives the case highest queue priority and targets 24 hours from arrival when the fault, parts, media condition and data volume allow it.
