Data Recovery Services in Manchester

We collect failed drives from Manchester by courier and recover them in our London cleanroom; there is no local lab or walk-in office here. Standard turnaround is 5–10 working days from arrival, standard diagnostics are free, and recovery starts from £100 for USB drives and £150 for hard drives.

Whether it's an office laptop from Spinningfields or a research drive from the university district, Manchester's data reaches our lab by courier rather than a local branch, and nothing is opened until it arrives in London.

Booking a collection
Collections are booked online or by phone, because there is no Manchester counter to walk into; tell us whether the drive still spins and mounts when you book, since a logical fault may not need the trip at all.
Getting to the lab
Transit down the West Coast corridor is usually quick, but the turnaround clock starts once the device is signed for in London, not on the day it's collected.

Before you book a courier: is it worth the trip?

Not every failure needs a lab. If a drive is logically damaged — it spins up normally, but files are missing, deleted, or the partition won’t mount — recovery software you run yourself has real odds of working, and a courier round trip may not be worth the wait. If it clicks, grinds, isn’t detected at all, or a DIY attempt has already failed, stop powering it on and book a collection instead: repeated power cycles are what turn a recoverable mechanical fault into an unrecoverable one.

No branch here, one lab in London

We don’t have an office in Manchester, and a courier collection isn’t the same as walking into a local shop — we won’t pretend otherwise. A drive collected here gets the same dedicated cleanroom environment and the same PC-3000 and DeepSpar equipment as one from anywhere else in the country. Collection is arranged by courier, and the standard 5–10 working day turnaround starts once the device has arrived and been logged in London, not on the day it’s picked up.

What happens when your device arrives

Every device we take in goes through the same intake, whoever sent it and wherever it came from:

  1. 01 the device is photographed on arrival
  2. 02 a job ticket is raised and the device registered against it
  3. 03 the customer is notified that it has been received

An encrypted drive can only be recovered if you supply the key or password: full-disk encryption is not something the lab can bypass.
